Allwest Drilling , Kalispell Montana

We have experience drilling water wells in all types of weather and terrain to depths of 1200 feet. Only thirteen of the 5945 water wells drilled in Lake County exceed 1000 feet. With our Foremost Rotary Drilling rigs, we are able to drill water wells in the most complex geology by expertly applying dual rotary drill technology. Our Foremost/Drill dual rotary rigs allow us to drill through all types of unconsolidated overburden such as sand, gravel and boulders, which we often encounter while water well drilling in the Flathead Lake region. The lower rotary drive can push casing up to 12 inches in diameter while, at the same time, an independent rotary top drive handles a drill string equipped with a down-the-hole hammer.

Our dual rotary rig can handle difficult formations without the use of casing hammers, under-reamers or drilling mud. Because the drives are independent, the bit drill can drill inside, flush with, or ahead of the casing depending on the type of overburden encountered. In situations where heaving is a factor or sample accuracy is important, the casing is advanced ahead of the drill bit for hole stability and minimal cross-contamination of cuttings.

In situations where boulders are encountered, the drill operator can stop the casing rotation, and continue through the boulder with a drill string. Once a pilot hole is established in the boulder, the operator begins rotating the casing again, and it follows the drill string through the boulder. This "pilot hole" technique combines with the rotation of the casing to deliver an uncommonly straight borehole. Once the desired casing depth is achieved, the dual rotary drill continues drilling like a conventional top-drive air drill.

Our dual rotary drill can drill through sand, gravel, and till faster than traditional water well drilling methods, saving our customer‘s time and money. It also minimizes aquifer cross contamination, which helps protect the integrity of our groundwater throughout western Montana.

The skill and experience of our drill crews combined with the quality of our equipment allows us to assure our customers that we can drill a water well in any terrain and at a reasonable cost. In the future, Allwest Drilling looks forward to helping the people of Montana tap nature’s most precious resource -- water.
